about the institute
Established in 2002 as an initiative of UCLA's Graduate School of Education & Information Studies, The Sudikoff Family Institute utilizes the popular press and other media to convey the work of GSE&IS faculty to policy makers, educators, and the general public.
Each year, the Sudikoff Fellowship is awarded to a distinguished individual scholar who proposes a special communications project for public outreach, and who then receives some funding and editorial support for the dissemination of his or her work.
The Sudikoff Family Institute for Education & New Media was created through a generous gift from philanthropists Jeffrey & Joyce Sudikoff, who have served as long-standing supporters of UCLA and its Graduate School of Education & Information Studies. The Sudikoff Family Foundation has contributed more than $2.3 million to foster the work of the GSE&IS, including an endowment of $1.5 million for the establishment of The Sudikoff Family Institute for Education & New Media.
The Sudikoffs have also provided significant contributions for the support and advancement of UCLA’s Lab School, formerly known as the Corinne A. Seeds University Elementary School (UES), including the creation of its Art Studio. Additionally, Jeffrey Sudikoff gave generously of his time to serve as the first Chair of the UES Board of Directors. |
