ETU Checkout Equipment Descriptions

Specifications for the different types of equipment offered by ETU for checkout.

ETU Equipment Available for General Checkout

 

  • LCD Data Projectors- for use with a PC or Mac laptop

All projectors include:
- VGA cables for use with laptops
- 10' power strip extension cable

Display adapters for Apple laptops are NOT included. Please see "Display Adapter" section below.

Policy: Reservation precedence will be given to on-campus classes. Off campus reservations will need to be made by a faculty or staff member. Because they are high-use, LCD projectors that are taken off campus must be returned by the specific time set by ETU. Any projector used after ETU's closing time must be kept in a locked faculty office until the return time.

  • Macintosh Laptops

All laptop bags include:
- 13" MacbookPro, runs OSX and Windows XP
- iLife 08, MS Office 08, Adobe Reader 9, VLC, VPN Client
- VGA display adapter for projectors

Policy: Laptops can be checked out for one calendar week at a time. For example, a laptop picked up on a Monday must be returned by 5:00 pm on the following Monday.

  • Portable Computer Speakers- for use with a PC or Mac laptop

  • SD Camcorders

All equipment bags include:
- Canon FS200 camcorder, battery, power cable,
- USB cable,
- wireless lapel microphone set

Policy: Camcorders can be checked out for one calendar week at a time. You must provide your own SD Card, You will need an SDHC card, minimum class 2. 4GB typically records 1 hour of video.

  • Tripods

Lightweight portable tripods for use with digital camcorders and cameras less than 5 lbs.

  • Digital Still Camera

Canon PowerShot S230, 3.2 Megapixel

Policy: Camera can be checked out for one calendar week at a time.

  • Portable Overhead Projector (for transparencies)

  • Display Adapters (for Apple Laptops)

Apple laptops require a display adapter to connect with a projector; there are several different types. To find the adapter you need, visit the Apple Display Adapter website. Display adapters cannot be reserved. They can be checked out on a first-come, first-served basis; you will need to leave your Bruin ID in exchange. If you use an ETU projector, you need a VGA adapter.

 

ETU Equipment Available for use within Moore Hall Only

 

  • Portable TV/VCR/DVD player on a cart

  • Polycom Videoconferencing Unit

Policy: Reservations for video-conferencing must be made at least one week in advance. In the "additional info" field of the request form; please include the dial time, duration of call, and contact information for the other party.

  • Speakerphone - for audioconferences

Policy: Reservations must be made at least one week in advance. In the "additional info" field of the request form; please include the dial time, duration of call, and contact information for the other party.

Note that the Speakerphone can only be used to connect with one other party. It cannot be used for multipoint phone calls.
