Human Development and Psychology
Program Description
The Human Development and Psychology (HDP) Division emphasizes disciplined inquiry aimed at understanding human psychological functioning in relation to educational phenomena and problems, including learning, teaching, socialization, and development. The M.A. and Ph.D. programs prepare students for careers in scholarly research and in teaching with the goal of developing theory and research that has implications for policy and practice as well as theoretical significance. Faculty who are part of HDP also participate in the undergraduate minor program, the Teacher Education Program, and the Educational Leadership Program, and they periodically teach methods and statistics courses.
